Insurance
I am not in network with insurance panels. Unfortunately, there are several limitations when it comes to getting relational work (couples/family) covered by insurance, which sometimes interferes with my ability to support or treat clients in a way that I consider best practice. In some cases I can provide you with a superbill so that you can seek reimbursement with your insurance company.
FAQs
Currently my practice is entirely virtual, meaning we will meet online via a HIPAA-compliant Telehealth platform. This gives you the flexibility to attend sessions from wherever is most convenient for you (home, work, car, the park) so long as the location provides adequate privacy and confidentiality.
This really is a tough question to answer and depends on each client, their concerns, goals, and unique circumstances. Some clients find their concerns to be resolved in a few short months, while others may take much longer. And yet some clients like to attend therapy indefinitely, and treat it like they would attend regular check ups with their medical doctor. As long as we have goals and things to work on, therapy may be beneficial. We will decide together at the onset of therapy what your goals are, what progress looks like, and through ongoing touch-bases about your experience and "dividends" from therapy.
We will, together, determine the cadence of therapy that feels appropriate for your situation. I typically recommend to new clients a weekly or biweekly frequency as we get started. This may be adjusted to monthly or further in between as more progress is made. Most clients prefer to maintain a biweekly frequency. Ultimately, it is up to you as the client to determine what is best for you.
Sometimes one partner is not so sure about going to couples therapy. Maybe they're skeptical that therapy can help, maybe they have ambivalent feelings about the relationship, or maybe there's some uncertainty or lack of clarity about what the two of you hope to get out of therapy. I always welcome clients/partners who are "on the fence" about therapy and encourage discussions about what my services have to offer, clarifying the goals of the therapy, and how I might support clients and couples at their respective spaces. At any rate, "relational therapy" can happen with only one client in the room. Focusing on the relationship with yourself is guaranteed to not only change your experience, but the way you show up in all of your relationships.
I ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule appointments. You may cancel a session up to 48 hours before the scheduled time without penalty. Appointment times are booked exclusively for you, which is why if you do not attend a scheduled session or cancel with less than 48 hours notice, my policy is to charge the full session fee so as to respect my time and that of other clients.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
* You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
* Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
* If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
* Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
